When's the best time to visit Doha in 2026?

November through February. Doha's 5 major sites, the Museum of Islamic Art (opened 2008, designed by I.M. Pei), the National Museum of Qatar (opened 2019), the 7-kilometre Corniche, Souq Waqif, and Katara Cultural Village, all sit outdoors or require outdoor walking between galleries. Winter afternoons hover around 22-25°C with almost no rain. Doha averages about 75mm for the entire year. Evenings drop to 14-16°C, cool enough that you might want a light layer for dinner at the Souq Waqif rooftop terraces, where the smell of grilled lamb and cardamom-laced karak tea drifts up from the passages below. Gulf water in December still sits near 22°C, warm enough for a swim at Katara Beach but not the bathwater it becomes by June.

The trade-off is cost. Hotel rates in the West Bay towers and The Pearl-Qatar climb 40-60% between mid-December and late January. A room that runs 800 QAR per night (about $220 USD at the current 3.64 QAR/USD rate) in October will reach 1,200-1,400 QAR ($330-385 USD) over the holiday period. Worth noting, though. January and February tend to be slightly cheaper than December, with nearly identical weather. If budget matters, the first two weeks of February are likely the sweet spot. Crowds at the National Museum of Qatar thin out after the holiday rush, and you can still walk the outdoor installations at Msheireb Downtown Doha without soaking through your shirt.

October and March sit on either side of the good window. October still carries leftover summer heat, with afternoons around 35°C, but the temperature drops fast week by week. By late October, evenings at the Corniche turn comfortable, and hotel pricing has not yet hit the winter peak. March is the reverse. Temperatures start climbing from 25°C back toward 30°C by month's end, and the humidity that defines Doha's difficult season begins to creep in. Either month works if you plan outdoor time for early morning or after 4pm. The Souq Waqif falcon shops open by 9am, and the fish market at the southern end is best before 10am, when the catch is still wet and the traders are calling prices in a rapid mix of Arabic and Urdu.

Skip June through September. Today, June 24, Doha is 36.3°C and it feels like 39°C. That reading was taken at 8am. By early afternoon, the temperature climbs past 45°C with humidity around 70-80%. The air takes on a thick, heavy quality, like breathing through a warm wet cloth. You will spend your trip between hyper-air-conditioned malls like Villaggio and Doha Festival City and hotel lobbies. The outdoor experiences that make Doha worth the trip, the Corniche at sunset, dhow boat rides in the bay, the Al Zubarah Fort 100km northwest, all become painful. Flights and hotels drop to their lowest annual rates, but no savings offset the inability to spend 15 comfortable minutes outside. Mind you, if a conference at the Qatar National Convention Centre forces a summer trip, surrounding Lusail hotels still run around 600 QAR ($165 USD) per night.
