TTDI publishes verified data, licensed photography, and our own editorial writing, and we take attribution seriously. If you believe material on ttdi.net infringes a copyright you own or represent, this page is the procedure for telling us. We review every complete notice, and when a claim is substantiated we remove it or disable access to it expeditiously.
How to send a notice
Send a written notice by email to with the subject line "Copyright notice". For us to act on it, applicable law requires that your notice includes all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature. Typing your full legal name at the end of the email is sufficient.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed, or a representative list if the notice covers several works.
- The exact address (URL) on ttdi.net where the material appears, with enough detail for us to locate it.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, the owner's agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
If a notice is missing one of these elements we will reply and ask for it rather than silently discard the notice, but we cannot act until the notice is complete.
What happens next
We acknowledge receipt, review the claim promptly, and when it is substantiated we remove the material or disable access to it expeditiously. Where the material originated from a third-party provider we may forward your notice to that provider. Sources whose material repeatedly draws substantiated notices are removed from the site and not used again.
Counter-notices
If material you supplied was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, send a written counter-notice to the same address. Include your signature, identification of the removed material and the address where it previously appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury of your good-faith belief that the removal was mistaken, and your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address. We will forward the counter-notice to the original complainant and restore the material unless they inform us they have sought a court order.
A note on accuracy
A person who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that removed material was removed by mistake, can be liable for the damages that misrepresentation causes, including costs and legal fees. Please make sure a notice is right before you send it.
Photography
Photographers whose images appear on TTDI are credited on the photo credits page, which also explains the fastest route to have an image removed. A notice sent through this page works too; the credits route is simply quicker for that one case.
