How do I get from the airport to Boracay?

Godofredo P. Ramos Airport in Caticlan (MPH) sits less than 2 km from the jetty port. It's tiny. You walk out of a single-story terminal, concrete and low-ceilinged, into a knot of waiting tricycles. The ride to Caticlan Jetty Port takes about 10 minutes and costs 20-50 PHP. At the jetty, expect an environmental fee of 75 PHP and a terminal fee of 100 PHP before buying your boat ticket. Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines both fly Manila to Caticlan in about 55 minutes, with fares running 2,500-5,000 PHP one-way depending on lead time. Worth noting, the runway measures only about 950 meters. It handles turboprops and small jets, and flights get cancelled in strong crosswinds during habagat season, roughly June through October. If your flight diverts, it typically goes to Kalibo.

Kalibo International Airport (KLO) handles the budget carriers and most international connections, including routes from Seoul and Taipei. It sits about 68 km from Caticlan Jetty. The shared van transfer takes 1.5-2 hours on a two-lane road through small towns where traffic slows to walking pace. Van operators at the terminal charge 200-300 PHP per person and depart once they fill. That can mean 30-45 minutes in a warm parking lot. The ride itself is air-conditioned but bumpy, winding past Aklan Province rice paddies and roadside stalls where ripe jackfruit and diesel fumes hang in the heat. If you land after 5pm, the last reliable shared vans leave around 6pm. After that, a private van runs 2,500-3,500 PHP.

Bangka boats from Caticlan Jetty to Cagban Port run roughly every 15-20 minutes from 6am to about 5:30pm. The crossing takes 10-15 minutes. Expect a wooden outrigger that rocks side to side in the afternoon chop. Your luggage goes on a roof rack or down in the hull, and crossings during the June-to-October monsoon will leave you damp. Motorized ferries also make this run for about the same fare, around 100 PHP. After 5:30pm, private boats cost 1,500-2,500 PHP. At Cagban Port on Boracay's southern tip, you pass through a registration checkpoint. Since the island's 6-month rehabilitation closure in 2018, the Malay municipal government requires tourists to show a confirmed hotel booking. Keep a screenshot on your phone. Cell signal at Cagban tends to be patchy, and the air is thick with salt and outboard exhaust.

E-trikes and regular tricycles line up at the Cagban Port exit. The fare to Station 1 on White Beach's north end runs 100-150 PHP for the 4 km ride. Station 2, the commercial center, is about 75-100 PHP. Station 3 is closest at 50-75 PHP. Mind you, the whole island measures only about 7 km long and 1 km wide at its narrowest point. Grab does not work here. You negotiate directly with tricycle drivers, and a laminated fare guide posted by the Malay LGU at the port exit lists standard rates. If your hotel is on Bulabog Beach on the east side, where kite-surfers spread across the water from November through April, specify that to the driver. Otherwise drivers head to the D'Mall area at Station 2 by default.
