Top 10 places to book a hotel in Guangzhou in 2026
Trip.com is the strongest place to book a Guangzhou hotel in 2026. Its listings draw from Ctrip, covering nearly every licensed property from the Tianhe towers to Shamian Island, and Booking.com is close behind. Trip.com takes first place because its free-cancellation filter and its totals in yuan both work fully in English.
We scored each platform on three things multiplied together: how many Guangzhou properties it lists (from the business towers in Tianhe to the older hotels around Beijing Road in Yuexiu), how close to check-in a Guangzhou booking can be cancelled for free (the best rates allow 18:00 on the day you arrive), and whether the yuan total at checkout matches the search page. Chinese hotels rarely charge resort fees, though upscale properties tend to add a 10% service charge plus 6% VAT, and some foreign sites only show it on the payment screen. Trip.com came first because its parent, Ctrip, is the channel most mainland hotels already sell through. Booking.com has better English support, but it lists fewer of the mid-range hotels near Guangzhou South Railway Station.
The most common mistake is booking the cheapest room you can find and then being turned away at the desk. Hotels in China have to register foreign guests with the local police, and many budget places in Liwan and Haizhu still refuse foreign passports. Before you pay, check the listing for a note that says mainland Chinese guests only. The second mistake is location: visitors who book in Panyu or Huadu to save about ¥150 (roughly $22) a night then spend close to an hour each way on Metro Line 3 to reach Tianhe. Airbnb won't help, because it stopped listing homes inside mainland China in July 2022. The third mistake is the timing of the Canton Fair, held each April and October at the Pazhou complex. Hotels near Pazhou and Xingangdong stations on Line 8 can double or triple their rates during the fair, and many also switch to non-refundable rates for those weeks.
Trip.com is not the best choice if you collect hotel points. A Marriott or Hilton member staying at the Conrad in Zhujiang New Town earns points and gets elite perks, late checkout among them, when booking direct rather than through a third-party site. It is also a weaker option if you need every booking to be refundable, because some of its lowest Guangzhou rates are prepaid and locked. If you already use Alipay and read Chinese, Fliggy or Meituan can be ¥30 to ¥80 a night cheaper for the same room. On a first visit, the airport ride matters as well. Metro Line 3 runs from Baiyun International Airport (CAN) to the Tiyu Xilu interchange in about 45 minutes, so a hotel near that station keeps the trip short.

Trip.com
Its listings come from Ctrip, so it covers almost every licensed Guangzhou hotel, from the towers in Zhujiang New Town to the guesthouses on Shamian Island. Listing pages show which hotels take mainland guests only, the free-cancellation filter works in English, and totals appear in yuan with tax included before you pay.

Booking.com
Strong on the international chains in Tianhe and the hotels facing Canton Tower across the Pearl River. Free cancellation is often open until the day before arrival. It lists fewer mid-range hotels near Guangzhou South Railway Station, and some rates hold the service charge back until you reach the checkout screen.
-
Agoda
Often a few dollars cheaper than rivals for Yuexiu hotels near Beijing Road and Gongyuanqian Station on Lines 1 and 2. Switch the price display to include taxes and fees, and read each rate's cancellation line, because many of the cheapest Guangzhou rates are non-refundable.
-
Marriott Bonvoy (direct)
Marriott has many hotels in Guangzhou, including W Guangzhou and The Ritz-Carlton in Zhujiang New Town, both a short walk from Line 3. Booking direct earns points and usually keeps a refundable rate available, though some member prices leave out the service charge until checkout.
-
IHG One Rewards (direct)
InterContinental Guangzhou Exhibition Center is next to the Pazhou fair halls on Line 8. IHG's flexible member rate is one of the easier ways to keep a refundable room there during fair weeks, when nearby independent hotels tend to switch to prepaid-only rates.
-
Hilton Honors (direct)
Best for members heading to Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe near the Tianhe Sports Center or Hilton Guangzhou Baiyun in the north. Hilton's price-match promise and flexible rates make direct booking a safe choice, but it only covers a handful of Guangzhou hotels.
-
Expedia
If you want to book a flight into Baiyun alongside a Tianhe hotel in one transaction, this is a reasonable place to do it. The Guangzhou selection is thinner than Trip.com's, and cancellation terms shift from rate to rate, so read each one carefully before you pay.
-
Accor ALL (direct)
You'll find Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich in Tianhe and Pullman Guangzhou Baiyun Airport listed here, the latter a practical pick after a late landing. Accor's flexible rate generally allows free cancellation up to a day before arrival, and the total displayed in yuan already includes the service charge.
-
Hotels.com
The Guangzhou listings here largely mirror Expedia's, and members earn One Key rewards on stays. The Tianhe and Yuexiu options are reasonable, but some prepaid rates can't be cancelled, and a few listings hold the fees back until the final screen.
-
Fliggy
Alibaba's travel app, paid through Alipay, often undercuts foreign booking sites on hotels in Haizhu and Panyu by ¥30 or more. The interface runs mostly in Chinese, refund rules are set by each hotel, and some listings don't accept foreign passports.
