Top 10 places to book a hotel in Chengdu in 2026
Trip.com is our pick for booking a Chengdu hotel in 2026. It lists more properties in the city than any Western platform, prices include tax, and everything is shown in yuan. What pushes it ahead, though, is that it marks which hotels register foreign passports, which keeps you from being turned away at the desk on Chunxi Road.
We scored each platform on three things multiplied together: how many Chengdu hotels it lists, from Jinjiang District towers to courtyard inns near Kuanzhai Xiangzi; how easy it is to cancel for free; and whether the price you see matches the price at the desk. Chinese hotels rarely charge resort fees. The surprise in Chengdu tends to be a deposit instead, often 200 to 500 yuan held on your card at check-in, plus the occasional extra charge for breakfast. That deposit runs about 30 to 75 US dollars at the October 2026 rate of 6.6862 yuan to the dollar. Platforms that show the deposit before you book scored higher; those that need Alipay, a Chinese phone number, or Mandarin scored lower, however many listings they have.
The most common mistake is booking for the wrong airport. Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) sits far to the southeast in Jianyang, and Metro Line 18 runs from there to the South Railway Station in roughly 40 minutes on the express. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) is much closer to downtown, and Metro Line 10 serves its terminals. Book a room near one airport and fly out of the other, and you're looking at a taxi of well over 100 yuan. The second mistake is assuming every listed hotel will take a foreign passport. Rules have loosened since 2024, but some small guesthouses around Jinli and Wenshu Monastery still refuse foreign guests at the desk.
Where you stay changes which platform fits. Tianfu Square is where Metro Lines 1 and 2 cross, putting you a few stops from Chengdu East Railway Station. The Jiuyanqiao bar strip along the Jin River is mostly mid-range chains that every platform lists. Taikoo Li, beside Daci Temple, is where the luxury hotels sit, and those are often cheaper booked direct. Line 3 runs north to Panda Avenue station for the panda breeding base, so a room near Chunxi Road on Line 3 saves you a transfer on an early panda morning.
Trip.com is not the right tool if you're chasing elite nights at the Chengdu Ritz-Carlton or the Temple House, since booking through a third party typically forfeits your points and any room upgrades. It's also a poor fit if you rely on Booking.com's Genius discounts for stays in the Hi-Tech Zone. And if you want a week-long apartment rental, short-term apartments in Chengdu mostly sell through Chinese-language apps such as Meituan, so Trip.com barely registers there.

Visit Trip.com -
Booking.com
It covers most of the international and mid-range hotels around Tianfu Square and the Hi-Tech Zone, with clear free-cancellation flags, though it lists fewer budget guesthouses near Wenshu Monastery than Trip.com does.
-
Agoda
It often has the lowest prepaid rates for Jinjiang District towers near the Jin River, but read the fine print: some Chengdu deals are non-refundable and quoted before the local service charge.
-
Marriott Bonvoy (direct)
Marriott runs about a dozen Chengdu hotels, including the Ritz-Carlton near Tianfu Square and the JW Marriott on Chunxi Road. Booking direct protects your points, and flexible rates cancel without a fee until 24 hours before arrival.
-
IHG One Rewards (direct)
IHG has properties in the Hi-Tech Zone and near Chengdu East Railway Station, and its flexible member rates are clear about what's included, which matters if your train out of Chengdu East is early.
-
Hilton Honors (direct)
Hilton's Chengdu hotels cluster in Jinjiang District and near Line 18 for Tianfu Airport (TFU) transfers. Member rates list the deposit up front, and refundable rates are easy to cancel.
-
Expedia
Expedia works well if you're bundling flights into Shuangliu (CTU) with a Chengdu room, but its local inventory is thinner than Trip.com's once you step outside the Line 1 and Line 2 core.
-
ALL Accor (direct)
Accor has fewer hotels in the city, but its Novotel and Pullman rooms near Taikoo Li and Daci Temple post tax-inclusive yuan prices and allow free cancellation on flexible rates.
-
Hotels.com
It shares Expedia's Chengdu inventory, so coverage is similar, and it suits repeat visitors who prefer the reward-night credit to the lowest nightly price around Jiuyanqiao.
-
Fliggy (Alibaba)
Fliggy has huge Chengdu coverage, including boutique inns near Jinli, but the app is in Mandarin, runs on Alipay, and its listings don't reliably say whether a hotel accepts foreign passports.
