Is Jaipur good for digital nomads in 2026?

Jaipur scores 5.2/10 for digital nomads (sourced from TTDI's editorial rubric). The city earns that score in a narrow window: October to March, based in C-Scheme or Malviya Nagar, with JioFiber or Airtel fibre and inverter backup, and a monthly budget of about ₹80,000. India has no nomad visa, so your stay is shaped by e-Tourist Visa limits from the start.

We'd put you in C-Scheme or Malviya Nagar, not inside the pink walls around Johari Bazaar. A furnished one-bedroom in C-Scheme runs roughly ₹22,000 to ₹35,000 a month and puts you a 10-minute walk from Central Park's jogging track and the cafes on Prithviraj Road. Malviya Nagar is cheaper at about ₹15,000 to ₹25,000: vegetable carts are through most lanes by 7 am, and Blinkit or Swiggy Instamart tend to deliver in under 20 minutes. Laundry means the neighbourhood istri-wala, who presses a shirt for around ₹10 to ₹15 over a charcoal iron you can smell from the lane. Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar are fine for a Saturday, but the horns run past 10 pm and there is no proper supermarket inside the walls. Vaishali Nagar is cheap and leafy, though an Uber to C-Scheme can take 40 minutes on Ajmer Road at rush hour.

Wifi is where Airbnb listings lie. Home fibre from JioFiber or Airtel Xstream sells 100 to 300 Mbps plans for roughly ₹700 to ₹1,200 a month, but plenty of landlords still run a 40 Mbps plan shared with the family downstairs. Ask the host for a fast.com screen recording before you book, and get it in writing whether the inverter powers the router. In May and June, older colonies in Malviya Nagar and Raja Park can lose power two or three times a day for 20 to 60 minutes, and a dead fan at 44°C ends a work block faster than any outage. Jio and Airtel 5G often hit 100 Mbps or more across C-Scheme, so a local SIM works as a backup hotspot. Get a travel eSIM for the first 48 hours, then buy an Airtel SIM with your passport at Jaipur International Airport or a city store. A 28-day plan with daily data costs about ₹350 to ₹400.

Cafes here tolerate laptops, but in short shifts. Tapri Central's rooftop faces Central Park and pours a ginger-sharp masala chai, though from 4 pm the place fills with loud college groups, so take calls elsewhere. Our favourite morning desk is Curious Life Coffee Roasters in C-Scheme, where the room smells of roasting beans, it's quiet before 11 am, and ordering a second pour-over every 90 minutes keeps anyone from hovering. Anokhi Cafe at KK Square has good bread and small tables, but the 1 pm lunch rush will push you out. For real coworking, Regus and Awfis run corporate hot desks along the Tonk Road and C-Scheme corridor, with day passes at roughly ₹500 and monthly hot desks at ₹6,000 to ₹9,000. Ask for a three-month rate, because the listed price assumes a tourist on a one-off pass. Startup Oasis in Malviya Nagar is a state-backed incubator, and its founder events are the fastest way to meet working locals rather than other travellers.

Timing decides whether Jaipur works for you. From October to March the evenings stay cool, and Open-Meteo showed a clear 22.6°C night on 19 October, which is rooftop-laptop weather. May and June bring 45°C afternoons and fine dust that settles on your keyboard, and from July to September the monsoon floods underpasses on JLN Marg and Tonk Road. For a weekend reset, ride a scooter up to Nahargarh Fort for sunset over the city, then eat dal baati churma at a dhaba on Amer Road. Temple bells from Birla Mandir carry across Tilak Nagar most evenings at aarti time, a useful cue to close the laptop. At 94.93 rupees to the dollar on 19 October, a month in Jaipur costs well under half of a month in Lisbon.

Visa options

India has no digital nomad visa, so most remote workers here use the e-Tourist Visa, which comes as 30-day double entry or 1-year and 5-year multiple entry. Each visit is capped at 90 days for most passports, or 180 days for US, UK, Canadian and Japanese nationals. Working for foreign clients on it sits in a grey zone, so never take Indian clients. The Employment Visa requires an Indian employer and a salary of at least US$16,250 a year.
