C-Scheme and Bani Park sit about 2 km west of the Old City walls. That gap matters. You get air-conditioned rooms with hot water that works for ₹4,000-8,000 ($42-84) at places like Hotel Clarks Amer on JLN Marg or Pearl Palace Heritage on Hathroi Fort Road, and you can reach Hawa Mahal by auto-rickshaw in 12 minutes for about ₹80. The streets here are wide enough for sidewalks, traffic noise drops after 10pm, and most mid-range hotels have rooftop restaurants where you can eat dal baati churma while watching kites circle over the Nahargarh ridge. Bani Park trends slightly cheaper and quieter than C-Scheme. Its Hathroi area is where backpacker hostels cluster, with dorm beds at ₹500-800 ($5-8). If you arrive at Jaipur Junction railway station, Bani Park is a 5-minute rickshaw ride north.

The Old City sits inside Maharaja Jai Singh II's 1727 walls. Staying here puts you steps from City Palace, founded in 1732, and the early-morning push through Johari Bazaar. The smell of frying pyaaz kachori from shops near Hawa Mahal (built 1799) hits the street before 7am. That proximity costs you sleep. Auto-rickshaws honk through narrow lanes until midnight, and temple bells start again around 5am. Hotels here tend to be converted havelis with thick sandstone walls that hold the cool of night well, even in September when afternoons still reach 34°C. Bissau Palace Hotel on Chandpol Road offers heritage rooms from ₹4,000-7,000 ($42-74). Budget guesthouses near Sanganeri Gate run ₹1,500-3,000 ($16-32). Mind you, this is where Jaipur's best street food lives within walking distance, and the lanes around Chandpol Gate run quieter than those near Tripolia Bazaar.

Jaipur's heritage hotels are the reason some travelers pick it over Udaipur or Jodhpur.
