How these numbers are computed

Cost data comes from each city's generated cost-per-day answer in our content pipeline. The daily totals are authoritative; the category breakdown (accommodation / food / transport / activities) is derived by applying normative ratios (~45% accommodation, ~25% food, ~12% transport, ~18% activities), not per-city, since per-city ratio tables would need maintenance we can't justify at launch.

Where the comparison data comes from

Both columns draw on TTDI's cost-per-day corpus: per-city prices for meals, local transport, attractions, and a night of accommodation, each measured and re-verified by our data pipeline rather than crowd-sourced once and left to age.

Comparing two cities side by side answers a sharper question than a single budget: not what a city costs, but what SWITCHING cities does to the same trip. A week that fits in one city on a set budget can lose two days of runway in another, and the gap is usually accommodation, not food.

The comparison runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you enter is stored or sent to a server.
