Top 10 places to book a hotel in Sorrento in 2026

Booking.com is the strongest platform for a Sorrento hotel in 2026. It lists more rooms than anything else we've looked at, from clifftop hotels above Marina Piccola to guesthouses on Corso Italia, and its free-cancellation filter is what tips the balance. It also covers the cheaper rooms in Sant'Agnello and Piano di Sorrento, a train stop or two from the centre, and those properties still show availability in August when the centre sells out.

We scored each booking channel on three things multiplied together: how much of Sorrento's stock it lists, from the hotels on the cliff above Marina Piccola to the rented rooms along Corso Italia and the cheaper stays in Sant'Agnello; whether a free-cancellation rate exists and still applies 48 hours before arrival; and whether the total on the booking page matches what the front desk off Piazza Tasso charges at check-out. Booking.com scores highest on the first two. The tie-breaker is how many Sant'Agnello and Piano di Sorrento properties it lists, and in July and August those are often the only rooms left. Booking direct with a hotel often gets the best price, but it loses on breadth, since one hotel's website covers that hotel and nothing else.

The most common mistake is to ignore the Circumvesuviana. A cheap room in Meta di Sorrento or Vico Equense can be 20 minutes or more by EAV train from Sorrento station, and in summer the carriages tend to be hot and packed. The second mistake is to underestimate the stairs: Marina Grande sits well below the old town, and the climb back up from the fishing harbour is steep after a seafood dinner. The third is forgetting the imposta di soggiorno, the town's tourist tax. Many properties still collect it at the desk, and several platforms do no more than label it as excluded. Fourth, many Sorrento hotels close from November to March, so an October search for winter dates will likely show far fewer rooms than a search for May.

Let your arrival route guide where you stay. From Naples Capodichino airport (NAP), the Curreri coach takes roughly 75 to 90 minutes to Sorrento and stops near the station, which makes it a natural fit for hotels around Piazza Lauro and the western end of Corso Italia. Ferries from Molo Beverello in Naples and from Capri dock at Marina Piccola, and from there you reach the town by steps or a paid lift near the Villa Comunale. SITA buses to Positano and Amalfi leave from the station forecourt, so day-trippers lose little by sleeping within a 5-minute walk of it.

Booking.com is not the right pick for everyone. Hilton Honors members chasing points at the Hilton Sorrento Palace on Via Sant'Antonio usually earn none through a third-party site, and small family-run rooms near the Basilica di Sant'Antonino or the Vallone dei Mulini lanes sometimes take bookings only by email or on their own pages. On currency, the rate on 19 October 2026 was 0.8909 euros to the dollar, which puts a €200 night on Via San Cesareo at about $224 before tax.

The full list

  1. Booking.com

Lists the most Sorrento rooms, from Marina Piccola cliff hotels to Sant'Agnello guesthouses near its Circumvesuviana stop. The free-cancellation filter works well for summer dates on Corso Italia, though check whether the city tax is listed as excluded.

  2. Direct booking on the hotel's own website

Often the best rate and the most flexible cancellation at family-run hotels on Via del Capo and around Piazza Tasso. Many will add a Capodichino transfer or a sea-view upgrade if you email first, though you can only compare one property at a time.

  3. Expedia

Strong on the larger Sorrento hotels near Piazza Lauro and the Villa Comunale, and flight-plus-hotel bundles via Naples (NAP) can undercut separate bookings in June. Fewer small guesthouses in Marina Grande.

  4. Trip.com

Good coverage of mid-range hotels between Sorrento station and Sant'Agnello, and clear refundable-rate labels. Useful for travellers coming from Asia who also book the Molo Beverello ferry leg.

  5. Google Hotels

The fastest way to compare Booking.com, Expedia and direct prices for one Corso Italia hotel side by side, with a map view that shows the drop between the old town and Marina Grande before you commit.

  6. Hotels.com

Has much the same Sorrento inventory as Expedia, though its member prices sometimes beat it on hotels along Via Correale above Marina Piccola. Suits repeat visitors who come back to the Amalfi Coast every year.

  7. Agoda

Pay-later rates on Sorrento's three- and four-star hotels near the Circumvesuviana terminus, and occasional flash deals in shoulder months like May and October. Thinner on independent rooms in the Vallone dei Mulini lanes.

  8. Airbnb

The widest choice of apartments with kitchens in Sant'Agnello and Piano di Sorrento for families who want to cook, though cancellation rules vary by host and cleaning fees can push the total well above the nightly rate.

  9. Tripadvisor

Best for reading recent reviews of noise from Piazza Tasso's late scooters before you book a central Sorrento room, but it then hands the booking to other sites, so check the cancellation terms on the final page.

  10. Vrbo

Fewer listings than Airbnb, but if you're a group of 6 or more looking for a whole villa on the Capo di Sorrento headland, this is where we'd look first. Most of those villas sit far enough out that you'll want a car or the SITA bus to reach the centre.
