Bodrum's cafe map is not a single scene but a peninsula of them, and the six rooms below sit at very different points on it. The old town clusters around Çarşı and Türkuyusu, where a 24/7 kitchen and a sailors' clubhouse trade in the same square kilometre. The resort villages further out, Ortakent Yahşi to the west and Yalıkavak on the north coast, hold the newer, more design-conscious rooms, some of them extensions of Istanbul brands testing the summer trade. The peninsula's postal codes tell the story cleanly: 48400 is the old town, 48420 the mid-peninsula, 48990 the Yalıkavak end, and each has its own idea of what a cafe is for. Skip the harbourfront terraces chasing the cruise crowd; the rooms worth an hour of your morning are further in, quieter, and mostly run by people who live in the postal code they serve. This list moves rank by rank through six of them, from an all-night kebab-and-coffee counter on Türkuyusu Caddesi to a 24-hour cafe on the Turgutreis bulvar, with three sit-down rooms in between.
