When's the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta in 2026?

The dry season runs from late October through May, but November through April is where the conditions and the crowd math work best. Daytime highs sit around 28-31°C, the air is dry enough that shade on the Malecón provides real relief, and the Pacific water temperature in Banderas Bay stays near 25°C. Humpback whales migrate through the bay from December to March, visible from the waterfront without paying for a boat tour. Worth noting, though, the Christmas and Semana Santa (roughly mid-April) surges hit hard. Room rates in the Zona Romántica double between December 20 and January 5, with a standard double running 3,500-5,000 MXN per night, roughly 207-296 USD at the current 16.91 rate. If your dates are flexible, the first two weeks of November and the last two weeks of January tend to offer 30-40% lower rates with nearly identical weather.

February and March are the driest months, with rainfall under 5mm total. Mornings start warm, around 22°C, and by noon Los Muertos Beach smells like coconut oil and grilled pescado from the palapa restaurants along the sand.
