Cancun is not a coffee town in the way that Mexico City or Oaxaca is a coffee town, and pretending otherwise does the reader a disservice. The hotel zone runs on resort americanos and lobby espresso, and most visitors never see the cafes the city actually drinks at — the ones tucked behind the SM grids of the centro, lining Avenida Nader and Avenida Tulum, scattered up toward the airport road and out past the Puerto Cancun mall.
