Goa's cafe culture is a strange, useful hybrid: a coastline of beach-shack espresso, a Portuguese-Catholic capital where the coffee shops keep apartment-block ground floors warm until late, and a hinterland of highway stops where a juice counter doubles as a kitchen. Some are coffee-and-pizza rooms that stay open to 23:00; some are ice-cream counters that don't close until 01:00; one is a 24/7 coffee-shop-and-cakes window in Vasco da Gama for the people who work the port. None of them are the sunset-shack cliche the tourist circuit sells, and that is the point. Read this as a working map: an address, an hour, a phone number, the cuisine the kitchen files itself under. Use it if you are landing late, working remotely from a north-Goa rental, or driving the NH4A and need a coffee that is not from a petrol-station vending machine.
