Abu Dhabi's restaurant map is more interesting than the tourist version usually admits. The big-name dining rooms still matter here (a known address is the one you hand the cab driver, not a fallback) but the city also runs on neighbourhood kitchens, late-night lounges, mall barbecue counters, and bakeries that quietly outperform their addresses. A few are inside larger venues, others sit on a corniche or a commercial road, and at least one is exactly where you would not think to look. Pass on the international buffets chasing the convention crowd; the cooking here argues for itself, in slow charcoal and patience.
