Udaipur's cafe scene is not one thing. It is a lakefront ghat where a small room pours filter coffee to travellers who wandered up from the water, and it is a New Fatehpura tea house that keeps the kettle going from breakfast until nearly closing time. The seven rooms below sit in two clusters: the ghats around Gangaur, where the cafes are compact, view-forward, and open early; and the newer city north of the old town, where the addresses are longer, the menus lean bakery-and-pasta, and the hours run to 22:00 or later. Skip the identikit lake-view rooftops chasing the tourist rupee; the places worth an hour of your morning or your evening are the ones that decided what they were and stopped negotiating. A few are branches of a local tea brand that has a website and a phone that answers; a few are a single door with a griddle behind it. Each entry cites what is verifiable (the address, the hours, the number you can call before you walk over) and leaves the rest to the room.
