Rates come from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter service, updated once each business day (around 16:00 CET). Cards and cash exchanges differ by a small margin.
Rates come from the European Central Bank reference feed via the Frankfurter API, the same source TTDI's compare pages cite. Reference rates are the mid-market benchmark banks settle around; the rate on your card statement will sit a little worse, typically by the issuer's one to three percent spread plus any foreign-transaction fee.
Use the converter to sanity-check street prices and ATM withdrawal amounts, then check your own card's fee schedule before a trip. For cities where dynamic currency conversion is common, paying in the local currency is nearly always the cheaper choice.
